Answers to questions can be obtained at the MS in MIS website or through e-mail to the MS in MIS Director.

  1. Take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the GRE and submit the results to the Graduate Studies office. If you have taken 3 or more of the foundation courses at UNO and earned a minimum of a 3.25 GPA, then this requirement can be waived. All students, regardless of whether or not the GMAT/GRE has been taken, must have the foundation requirements met.

  2. Submit the completed application form and required fee to the UNO Admissions office. Also, arrange to have two sets of official transcrips from each college or university previously attended sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office.

  3. After you are notified of your admission by the Dean for Graduate Studies, you will be able to register. A schedule of course offerings is available in the MS in MIS booklet and on this website. E-mail any questions to pwolcott@mail.unomaha.edu.

    Provisionally admitted students must complete the foundation courses identified at the time of admission prior to completing the first six hours of MS in MIS coursework.

  4. Have a degree audit performed as early as possible. This can be done as soon as the following conditions have been met:

    1. a minimum of six hours of graduate credit completed at UNO toward the degree program;
    2. a grade average of "B" or better in all work taken toward the degree; and
    3. completion of all deficiencies identified at the time of admission.

    If you have any questions about the degree audit, please contact the Office of Graduate Studies (EAB 204).

    Transfer students may request permission to transfer as many as nine (9) semester hours of credit on a 36-hour program provided the courses are pertinent to the student’s graduate program. Submit petitions to the MS in MIS Director (PKI 284-C) for transfer credit and a syllabus for each course to be transferred.

  5. You will be notified by the Dean for Graduate Studies and Research by mail of your admission to candidacy.

  6. You are eligible to take comprehensive exams when you have a maximum of nine (9) hours remaining in the program, have taken all foundation requirements, and are in good standing. You must register for comprehensive exams in the semester you plan on taking them. Please check the program website or the MS in MIS Office for dates.

  7. At the beginning of your last semester before graduation, notify the MS in MIS office of your plans to graduate and pick up a Checklist for Graduation. The checklist will indicate deadlines and procedures necessary to graduate.

  8. Make application for the conferral of degree in the Registrar’s Office. The deadline for filing is usually well before graduation, so be alert for these dates. The deadline will be stated in the current issue of the Graduate Catalog and will also be posted during registration and in the Registrar’s Office. If you apply for and do not complete all the requirements for the degree in time for graduation, you must reapply for graduation the following semester. No additional fee is charged to reactivate your application.

  9. Pay all fees and fines and satisfy all obligations to the University at least twelve (12) working days before conferral of the degree.

  10. Order a cap, gown, and hood from the Bookstore.
