Dr. Haworth attended the United States Air Force Academy; in 1963, he received his bachelors degree. As an Air Force Pilot, he traveled extensively in Asia. After retiring, he worked for the Korean Ministry of Education and for the Army Corps of Engineers Far East District. He returned to the USA in 1984 to study for his doctoral degree in Management Information System at Texas Tech University. His research interests are in software maintenance and programmer productivity. His teaching interests are in programming and project management. He recently had a grant from US West to investigate software re-engineering.

As an Air Force Pilot, Dr. Haworth was stationed for twelve years in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
