Professionally, I am a Maverick -- a member of the faculty of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, in the College of Information Science and Technology, Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis. I serve as Chair of the Department. Previously, I was a Buffalo (member of the faculty of the University of Colorado at Boulder); a Golden Gopher (Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota), a Maverick in an earlier era (M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska at Omaha), and a Husky Dog (B.A. in English Literature from the University of Washington). Before I became a professor, I had many other jobs. Some of the more interesting ones include systems analyst, programmer, director of student advising, circuit breaker builder, janitor, salmon cannery worker, and popcorn vendor. Culturally and ethnically, I am a Latvian who came to the United States as an immigrant at the age of three. My parents impressed upon me that an education is the only thing that can never be taken away, so I started with kindergarten and just kept right on going. Personally, I am a reader, cat
lover, exercise enthusiast, gardener, music listener, and traveler.
