Received
her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems and Organization Theory from
the University of Nebraska, a B.S. in Psychology from the University of
Wisconsin, and an M.Ed. from the University of Illinois. She came to UNO
in 1980 and has served in numerous administrative positions, including
Chairman of the Management Department and Associate Dean of the College
of Business. Her teaching interests are in management information
systems, small business/entrepreneurship, e-commerce and research in
MIS. Her research interests include planning for small firms and new
firm formation, IS investment issues, e-commerce: factors for successful
implementation, and user interfaces in information systems design. She
has written grants funded for over $20 million. Dr. Specht has been
involved in the College's outreach activities. Examples include team
member on grants from a power company to study software productivity and
from a health department to plan a software roll-out. She had a Faculty
Fellowship to work one-half time in a telecommunications firm. Dr.
Specht is a Graduate Faculty Fellow and serves on a number professional
association boards, editorial boards, and Executive Committees.
