Student Learning Objectives & Outcomes

In November 2007, the ISQA faculty unanimously approved the following Student Learning Objectives and Outcomes.

Objective (a): Students will have an ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline.

Objective (b): Students will have a broad organizational and real-world perspective.

  1. Understand the local and global role of information systems in supporting and enabling processes and strategies at the individual, organizational, and societal level.

Objective (c): Students will have strong analytic, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

  1. Apply traditional and contemporary analysis and design techniques to identify and analyze organizational problems or opportunities, formulate appropriate strategies and solutions using information technologies, and evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions.

Objective (d): Students will have good interpersonal communication, team skills, and strong ethical principles.

  1. Communicate effectively to a range of audiences through listening and through oral, written, and visual presentation.
  2. Work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others to accomplish a common goal.
  3. Understand and apply appropriate types of computer-based tools to support communication.
  4. Understand and apply professional, legal, and ethical standards of conduct.

Objective (e): Students will be able to design, implement, deliver, and manage technological solutions to organizational problems or to take advantage of opportunities.

  1. Understand and model organizational processes and data.
  2. Design, integrate, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.
  3. Manage projects.
  4. Manage information systems within a specific application environment.
  5. Manage change.

Objective (f): Students will recognize the need for and engage in continuing professional development.
