Peter Wolcott, Ph.D.Associate professorDepartment

Peter Wolcott obtained his Ph.D. in 1993 from the Department of Management
Information Systems at the University of Arizona, where he
pursued interests in the international dimensions of information
technology. He is finding that being a faculty member is almost as
much fun as being a graduate student...
He is currently the Director of the Master of Science in Management Information Systems program.
During the 2003-2004 academic year he was on sabbatical at Agder University College in Kristiansand, located in Southern Norway.

Research interests
Dr. Wolcott has long-standing interests in the international dimensions of information technologies. His most active research at present focuses on the role of information technology for development (ITD). He teaches students to applying ITD concepts and practices to promote economic, social, and human development in microenterprises.
He is also working on the Global Diffusion of the Internet Project. Another interest is the development of municipal e-Government in countries around the world.
His past research focus has been on the international aspects of high-performance computing. His doctoral work involved an examination of the high-performance computing (HPC) sector of the former Soviet Union. More recent work includes a study of the U.S. HPC export control regime.
